There are energetic U2 fans, and enthusiastic U2 haters, and next to no in the middle.Maybe that is by goal. From their begin, the four individuals from U2 – Bono, the Edge, Adam Clayton and Larry Mullen, Jr. – have appeared to blossom with instigating response from their group of onlookers. Whether it's the band's blunt political position or their intermittent elaborate changes, U2 would prefer not to just acquire a superficial spot on your CD rack as a biggest hits accumulation or 30-year-old record. They prompt and rouse; they draw in and irritate. That is just fine, yet shouldn't…

  • Is all art worthless?

    MONDE
    2 Sep 2015 | 1:46 am
I was sad but not surprised to find out this week that Bono has made more from his Facebook investments than all of his music combined, ever. For Bono, that means that his life’s work, all his creative pain and joy, all his successes and failures (dare I mention U2’s Songs Of Innocence on iTunes?) are worth less than a meeting he had with investors to decide what to do with his money. As a society, it means art is an aside. It means art is the fries to accompany the burger of life. I know art can’t resuscitate a dying child or rescue a lifeboat in the path of a tsunami but I like to…

  • Bono From U2 Has Made A Ton Of Money Off His Facebook Shares

    hazucf
    1 Sep 2015 | 1:30 pm
Bono’s music career has spanned nearly five decades, and has undoubtedly made him a very wealthy fella. The money he has made fronting U2, though, is pocket change in comparison to the cash his investment firm has produced over the years. According to the New York Post, Bono’s investment group, Elevation Partners (like the U2 song, get it!?), purchased slightly more than $200 million of Facebook stock from 2009 to 2010. In just six year’s time, that investment has turned into an absurd $1.4 billion. While this news may have Bono haters burning hotter than the fire of a thousand…

I’ve been in America for over two weeks now. Boy, it’s strange and normal at the same time. It is everything I expected, and it’s not. I thought I’d miss home more, but it’s not that bad. I haven’t cried yet or anything. Perhaps it still has to come? I don’t know. Either way, I like the life I’m living at the moment. Before I left, there was just so much doubt about everything. Now, it just seems like everything has fallen into place. I’m so glad I did this. And I’m already dreading the moment I have to leave. Not that I don’t…
